Landscapes are always in the process of becoming; whether natural or constructed, they hold a cultural memory with an ongoing evolution of social life. Much contemporary human geography focuses attention on the significance of networks, connections, flow and movement in the continuous creation of spatial identity.
My paintings are contemplations of the landscape that aim at an equilibrium between juxtaposed realms from architecture and nature. These are derived from direct observation, photographs and memory, with the intention of creating a connection with our treasured moments in life.
Elements from the natural world such as light, water and foliage intertwine in my body of work, and are used to explore timeless poetical forms, creating a sense of nostalgia through imagery.
